Why Combine Running, Hiking & Yoga
I’ve seen how nature has the ability to ground and heals us. After decades in a high-pressure corporate career, I followed what truly moved me: alpine landscapes, real human connection, and the stillness you find when you pair movement with mindful practice.
A Life in the Mountains
With my soul in the mountains, I love to combine my passion for mountain sports with the grounding of my yoga practice.
When I’m not leading retreats, I’m usually paragliding off mountains, ski-mountaineering amongst high peaks, cycling across continents, or experimenting with new vegan recipes.

Trip Questions
-
For the trail running you need to be able to run for 5 - 7 hours with upto 1,500m of elevation gain and descent.
Our trips are not performance clinics, but about being in the mountains, taking time to appreciate where you are. However if you like to run fast there will be opportunities each day. And if you like to run slow, we won’t leave you behind.
Also, each of our tour descriptions details the level of running experience and fitness required.
-
Our yoga is aimed at beginner to intermediate level, but that doesn't mean you won’t enjoy it if you practice regularly. As the saying goes “it is yoga practice not yoga perfect”.
There is a strong focus on supporting your running. Each session blends mobility, strength, and breathwork to help you move with more ease, efficiency, and awareness on the trails.
You’ll explore how yoga can improve running form, enhance post-run recovery, and build the kind of functional strength that keeps you injury-resilient across long days in the mountains. The aim is not to turn you into a “yogi,” but to give you practical tools you can integrate into your training at home, simple and effective movement patterns that support your body through volume, vertical elevation gain, and varied terrain.
Across the retreat you’ll learn how yoga-based mobility can unlock range where runners tend to get tight, how breathwork can steady your mind on steep climbs, and how mindful movement can make your running feel smoother and more connected.
By the end of the retreat, you’ll have a clear understanding of how yoga complements endurance sport, enhancing recovery, reducing overuse tension, and helping you run with more freedom, strength, and longevity.
-
Our retreats offer a blend of yoga styles and practices designed to support both your body and mind, whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner.
Often the morning begins with a gentle vinyasa session, a flowing style of yoga that links breath with movement. This practice helps to awaken the body, improve strength and flexibility, and create a sense of calm focus for the day ahead.
In the afternoons or evenings, we focus on slower, more mindful movement. We will guide you to explore the subtle movements of your body, reconnecting with your own sensations and fostering self-awareness. Restorative elements allow deep relaxation, helping release tension and restore balance after a day of activity.
Some evenings, we offer guided meditation and yoga Nidra sessions, helping you to fully relax and recharge. Yoga Nidra, sometimes called “yogic sleep,” provides a deep state of rest while keeping you conscious, allowing for profound physical and mental restoration. Meditation sessions cultivate mindfulness, grounding you in the present moment and supporting a sense of inner calm.
-
To get the most out of the trips, you should already be a confident trail runner, someone who can comfortably manage 5–7 hours on mountain terrain and handle around 1,500m of ascent and descent in a day.
We won’t be covering that much on the trips, but that level of fitness and resilience means you’ll feel strong, relaxed, and safe on the high-alpine terrain we will explore.
Our runs take place on true mountain trails, rocky, uneven, sometimes technical, and always breathtaking. You should feel confident moving at altitude and navigating varied terrain at a steady, sustainable pace.
The emphasis isn’t on speed or pushing limits, it’s about travelling through the mountains with ease, enjoying the scenery, and having the capacity to fully appreciate the experience rather than endure it.
-
Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for all our retreats. When you register, you’ll be asked to confirm that you understand and accept this requirement. You acknowledge that you have read and understood our terms and conditions, and that exceptions can never be made to the outlined refund schedule.
As a guest you may need to cancel for reasons no one anticipates — injury, illness, work changes, family commitments, or other unexpected life events. Because many retreat costs are fixed and paid well in advance, we’re unable to offer refunds beyond the sliding scale detailed in our terms and conditions.
Travel insurance protects you if you need to cancel for reasons outside your control and ensures you’re not left out of pocket. Your policy must include trip cancellation, delays, mountain rescue up to 4,000 metres, medical coverage, and repatriation. You’re welcome to use any insurer you prefer, as long as your policy meets these requirements.
-
Yes we do have minimum numbers for our holidays and retreats to take place. These are detailed on each retreat page.
Until we meet the minimum number the holiday is not confirmed. Once we meet the minimum number we will advise and only at that point should you book flights for the holiday.
The reason we have minimum numbers is because we often use chalet properties rather than hotels so we need a certain number to make the make the trip viable. We cannot adjust the number of guest rooms as you can with a hotel.
We wish it wasn’t all about money, and it isn’t always!
-
All of our food is vegan and gluten free unless we state otherwise. We use local organic ingredients wherever possible.
We can accommodate most dietary requirements and allergies, but we cannot accommodate preferences, unless you are requesting private chef services.
We do not and will not use any animal products in the food we provide. This goes against our values, and what we are creating through our retreats.
If you have a severe food allergy, it is your responsibility to make sure you do not come into contact with or digest the substance you are allergic to. We will do our best to ensure we avoid any food substances you inform us of.
-
Some of this goes without saying, but we will say it anyway. A good pair of trail running shoes are essential and preferably not fresh out of the box.
Running poles are a great bit of kit for longer days here in the Alps. We will explain more once you book up, and there is the opportunity to buy them in bigger alpine towns like Chamonix.
A running vest of around 12 litres should be sufficient and in it you’ll need to pack a waterproof jacket in case the weather changes. Everything else is fairly standard equipment and you will receive a “recommended kit list”, when you book your place.
-
There is something for everyone in the Alps. Technical forest trails in the mid mountain terrain, that can be rocky and Rooty.
High alpine paths through boulder fields, exposed cliffed trails, and much gentler paths used by by herdsman for moving their livestock.
