Sample Itinerary

  • Meet in Chamonix early morning and transfer through to Italy by private minibus to Gressoney La Trinité in Aosta Valley. Then we ride a gondola up the mountain and run to the Oreste Hütte.

We’ll leave our bags and head out on a shake-out run for up to two hours. On returning you can settle into your room and enjoy some personal time before a gentle yoga and relaxation session, followed by a welcoming dinner.

  • Morning yoga in the hut’s dedicated yoga shala before a healthy and energising breakfast.

We’ll spend up to 5 hours out on the trails today, exploring the beautiful high alpine landscape. Afternoon yoga focuses on restorative poses and guided relaxation. Dinner at the hut concludes the day.

  • Today is about ridgeline running to maximise our views and improve your skills. Again, we will run for up to 5 hours, on moderate to challenging high alpine terrain. Afternoon yoga supports recovery and alignment.

Our run will be approximately 3-5 hours total, with 10-15km distance and up to 500m of elevation gain and 800m descent.

  • As this is our final day, we’ll start with a gentle morning yoga session and a nourishing breakfast before departing the hut. The run will take us down to the valley floor and back to our private transport for the return to Chamonix. Today’s focus is on descent, covering up to 15 km with 1,000 m of descent.

Yoga and Running, Designed to Complement Each Other

Do I need to be a serious trail runner?

To get the most out of this retreat, you should already be a confident trail runner, someone who can comfortably manage 5–7 hours on mountain terrain and handle around 1,500m of ascent and descent in a day.

We won’t be covering that much on the retreat itself, but that level of fitness and resilience means you’ll feel strong, relaxed, and safe on the high-alpine terrain we will explore.

Our runs take place on true mountain trails, rocky, uneven, sometimes technical, and always breathtaking. You should feel confident moving at altitude and navigating varied terrain at a steady, sustainable pace.

The emphasis isn’t on speed or pushing limits, it’s about travelling through the mountains with ease, enjoying the scenery, and having the capacity to fully appreciate the experience rather than endure it.

What about the yoga?

The Yoga programme at the Oreste Hütte is designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you practice daily or only occasionally. Each session blends mindful movement, breathwork, and stillness, offering space to tune in, unwind, and reconnect with your natural rhythm.

Morning practices gently open the body and prepare you for time on the trails, while evening sessions focus on deep release, restoration, and integration. Immerse yourself in the silence of the high alpine mountains, the yoga becomes less about “doing” and more about softening into the present.

Healthy Eating

“Eating at Oreste Hütte is about more than nutrition, with food to energise your body, sooth your mind, and that honours the natural world. Entirely vegan, the meals are nourishing, full of flavour, and deeply satisfying.”

The chefs use high-quality, local, and organic ingredients wherever possible, preparing dishes with whole grains, minimal salt, and natural sweeteners such as coconut sugar, and maple syrup.

Breakfast is hearty and energising, featuring homemade bread, jams, gluten-free options, vegan yoghurt, cereals, dried fruits, and fresh fruit. Tea, coffee, and cappuccino are available throughout the morning.

During the day we will have packed lunches so you can easily carry them with you on the trails.

Dinner is a three-course, nutritionally balanced meal designed to delight your senses. Complementary spring water, tea, and coffee are provided, and special dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.

The hut’s philosophy goes beyond vegan cuisine, it’s about responsible, conscious choices for your health, the environment, and ethical living. In Monte Rosa’s spectacular setting, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy wholesome, vibrant food in the mountains..
