Sample Itinerary
-
Upon arrival in France, transfer to La Taillade and settle into our charming farmhouse, your home for the next four nights. Take some time to relax and unwind, perhaps with a soak in the jacuzzis before joining your first gentle yoga and relaxation session.
In the evening, enjoy a welcoming dinner designed to nourish both body and spirit and set the tone for your retreat.
-
Begin the day with a sunrise yoga session, a slow-flowing vinyasa practice that will guide your body and mind into balance. Afterward, take some personal time to refresh before enjoying a nourishing breakfast.
Spend the late morning in the jacuzzis and saunas, followed by your first somatic practice, reconnecting with your body and senses. Lunch will be a light, leisurely affair inspired by the Swedish tradition of Smorgasbord, offering a moment to pause and enjoy the surroundings.
The afternoon is free to explore, walk in the surrounding woodlands, swim in the pool, spend time with the animals, or simply be present.
In the evening, gather for a family-style dinner before a guided yoga nidra session to help you rest and prepare for a good night’s sleep.
-
Rise for sunrise yoga to start the day. After breakfast, enjoy a guided walk with the donkeys, culminating in a picnic with a stunning view of the surrounding peaks. Take in the vista, breathe deeply, and enjoy this mindful journey through the landscape.
Return to the farmhouse in the afternoon for free time. Relax in the jacuzzis, stroll through the woods, or simply rest. The late afternoon brings your second somatic practice, designed to foster self-awareness and thoughtful reflection.
In the evening, join a wholesome dinner, followed by a guided Tonglen meditation to help you reflect and settle into the evening.
-
Start the day with sunrise yoga, helping you integrate the practices and experiences of the retreat. After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning, perhaps revisiting your favourite spots around the property, meditating, or spending time with the animals. Optional massage sessions will be available for those wishing to deepen their sense of calm and renewal.
Lunch brings the group together to share reflections and gratitude. In the afternoon, a closing yoga and relaxation session allows you to seal in the benefits of the retreat.
In the evening, we celebrate with a special, celebration dinner, a feast for the senses, highlighting vibrant plant-based dishes and bringing the retreat to a memorable conclusion.
This will be followed by the last guided yoga nidra, allowing you to fully release, restore, and prepare for your departure.
-
Begin your final morning with a gentle yoga session. After breakfast, take a final moment to reflect, enjoy the surroundings, or take a short walk around the property.
Lunch marks the end of the retreat, after which check-out and transfer to your departure airport. Leave feeling refreshed, restored, and carrying the calm, clarity, and mindful presence of the retreat into everyday life.

[ WHAT TO EXPECT ]Accommodation & Meals
Accommodation
La Taillede is an ancient Catalan Mas perched at 950m, just above the charming village of Corsavy in the Pyrenees Orientales. Lovingly restored by Ali and Matt, this historic farmhouse has been transformed into elegant, high-end accommodation designed for those who appreciate mountain beauty, comfort, and nature in its purest form.
Expansive views stretch across the surrounding peaks and forests, creating a sense of space and serenity the moment you arrive. The property is also home to a gentle collection of animals, donkeys, sheep, chickens, dogs, and cats. Adding warmth, character, and a grounding connection to the land.
Thoughtfully curated interiors, generous communal areas, and peaceful outdoor terraces make La Taillede an ideal sanctuary for slowing down, unwinding, and reconnecting with yourself. With its blend of rustic charm and refined comfort, it offers the perfect environment to rest deeply, nourish your body and mind, and savour the quiet magic of the mountains.
Healthy Eating
The quality of the food on the retreat is very important to us, and you will enjoy balanced and nutritious meals that have been selected to complement the retreat perfectly. Our aim is to present a new way of eating to you, which is packed full of flavours, textures and colours.
Although the food will be vegan, we don’t feel labelling it as such is helpful – it is just delicious food, presented to a high standard, with no animal products on the plate. We use organic and local produce wherever possible. Come with an open mind and an appetite for experience and you won’t be disappointed.
[ WHAT TO EXPECT ]What about the yoga?
Our retreat offers a blend of yoga styles and practices designed to support both your body and mind, whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner.
Vinyasa Flow
Each morning begins with a gentle sunrise vinyasa session, a flowing style of yoga that links breath with movement. This practice helps to awaken the body, improve strength and flexibility, and create a sense of calm focus for the day ahead.
Restorative & Somatic Movement
In the afternoons, we focus on slower, mindful movement. Somatic practices guide you to explore the subtle movements of your body, reconnecting with your own sensations and fostering self-awareness. Restorative elements allow deep relaxation, helping release tension and restore balance after a day of activity.
Yoga Nidra & Meditation
Several evenings, we offer guided meditation and yoga Nidra sessions, helping you to fully relax and recharge. Yoga Nidra, sometimes called “yogic sleep,” provides a deep state of rest while keeping you conscious, allowing for profound physical and mental restoration. The meditation follows Tibetan buddhist principles and cultivates mindfulness, grounding you in the present moment and supporting a sense of inner calm.
Together, these practices create a balanced retreat experience, energising the body, soothing the mind, and leaving you feeling renewed, present, and fully connected to yourself and your surroundings.
[ Your teachers ]Holding space for you
Clare Maddalena
Clare brings a deeply transformative and heart-centred approach to yoga and personal inquiry. Her work is an intuitive fusion of practices drawn from many disciplines and lineages, shaped by the decades she has spent listening, learning, and sharing the wisdom of this ancient tradition.
Beginning her teaching journey at just 23, Clare has devoted her adult life to exploring the spiritual roots of yoga, its philosophy, history, and its potential to awaken profound inner change. Her classes draw on yoga therapy and mental wellbeing practices, all offered within a compassionate, trauma-sensitive framework.
Clare’s true gift lies in her presence. She holds space with depth, tenderness, and clarity, inviting participants into their own inner sanctuary, where enquiry becomes healing and movement becomes a pathway to truth. Her sessions weave traditional asana with gentle somatic exploration, guiding embodied awareness, enhancing mobility, and supporting the body in harmony with active, athletic pursuits.
Over the years, Clare has guided and trained hundreds of yoga teachers, and together with Alistair, she brings this wisdom, intuition, and spiritual sensitivity to Soul of the Pyrenees, shaping an experience that supports reflection, growth, and connection with the mountains.
Alistair Crompton
Alistair has been teaching yoga for over a decade, beginning his journey in 2000 and deepening his practice in 2015 when he trained as a teacher. For ten years, he shared yoga with mountain athletes in Chamonix, enhancing their mountain sports training with improved mobility, strength, and mindful awareness. For Alistair, yoga is a way of being, not just a class, a path to cultivate presence, embodiment, and a deeper connection to life as it unfolds.
Alistair’s teaching follows a flowing Vinyasa style, rooted in the ancient teachings of yoga, and enriched by practices from Tibetan Buddhism and mindfulness. At the heart of his practice is the art of being fully present, cultivating awareness of the body, breath, and mind in each moment. For Alistair, yoga is a path of service, a way to guide others back to themselves, awaken embodied presence, and nurture a deeper connection with life as it unfolds.
He brings this same mindful intention to the kitchen, creating vibrant, plant-based meals designed to nourish the body and feed the soul. Serving others through food is for him a profound expression of care, presence, and connection, supporting wellbeing on and off the mat.
Through his teaching, guidance, and the meals he prepares, Alistair holds space for reflection, embodiment, and reconnection, inviting each participant of Soul of the Pyrenees to step fully into themselves, enhance their movement, and immerse in the timeless magic of the mountains.

The farmhouse has been lovingly restored by the owners, Ali and Matt. All of the rooms are finished to a high standard to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Five bedrooms are ensuite and two share one bathroom.
The bedrooms are split across several individual gites (apartments) and have lounge spaces. The largest apartment is where the group will eat meals and another provides an indoor yoga space should we need it.

Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for all our retreats. When you register, you’ll be asked to confirm that you understand and accept this requirement. You acknowledge that you have read and understood our terms and conditions, and that exceptions can never be made to the outlined refund schedule.
As a guest you may need to cancel for reasons no one anticipates — injury, illness, work changes, family commitments, or other unexpected life events. Because many retreat costs are fixed and paid well in advance, we’re unable to offer refunds beyond the sliding scale detailed in our terms and conditions.
Travel insurance protects you if you need to cancel for reasons outside your control and ensures you’re not left out of pocket. Your policy must include trip cancellation, delays, mountain rescue up to 4,000 metres, medical coverage, and repatriation. You’re welcome to use any insurer you prefer, as long as your policy meets these requirements.
-
Yes we do have minimum numbers for our holidays and retreats to take place. These are detailed on each retreat page.
Until we meet the minimum number the holiday is not confirmed. Once we meet the minimum number we will advise and only at that point should you book flights for the holiday.
The reason we have minimum numbers is because we often use chalet properties rather than hotels so we need a certain number to make the trip viable. We cannot adjust the number of guest rooms as you can with a hotel.
We wish it wasn’t all about money, and it isn’t always!
-
All of our food is vegan and gluten free unless we state otherwise. We use local organic ingredients wherever possible.
We can accommodate most dietary requirements and allergies, but we cannot accommodate preferences, unless you are requesting private chef services.
We do not and will not use any animal products in the food we provide. This goes against our values, and what we are creating through our retreats.
If you have a severe food allergy, it is your responsibility to make sure you do not come into contact with or digest the substance you are allergic to. We will do our best to ensure we avoid any food substances you inform us of.
-
Our retreats are intentionally small, premium, and carefully curated.
You’re not just booking accommodation and a few yoga classes — you’re joining a fully guided mountain experience. Each retreat includes expert trail running guidance, professional yoga teaching, small group sizes, exceptional alpine locations, and high-quality food and accommodation.
In short, YMR retreats are designed to be deeply immersive, personal, and adventurous, not mass-market retreats.
